Building Educational Gardens for Edward Bush Public School

We are so excited to announce that we have received funding from Pure Farmland to connect our partner school, Edward Bush Public School 18 in Williamsburg with their very own urban greenspace. With this generous grant, many supporting community hands, and of course organic heirloom seeds, we have built a school garden that provides each classroom with their very own learning garden! Michael Lee, the Principal, describes how impactful it is to have students apply their classroom curriculum to real life-hands on learning. In addition, the garden has already spurred some amazing opportunities for troubleshooting essential urban gardening challenges, like choosing the right plants to grow in the shade of nearby tall buildings.  As well as, providing a chance for kids to see how their community food waste can be turned into compost which will support the growth of the plants and students alike.
